Africa, experienced privately.
Designed entirely around your family.
The Inspiration
House of Wild was shaped over years spent travelling through Africa, long before we became parents.
Through my work and our travels, we experienced some of the continent’s most exceptional lodges. But more than that, we observed. We spent time with owners, spoke to guests, and began to understand what truly makes a safari feel extraordinary. Not just in design, but in how it is experienced.
Over time, we found ourselves mentally curating itineraries. Not based on what was considered the best, but on what felt right for different people. Because there is no single perfect safari. Only the one that is right for you.
That perspective shifted entirely when our daughter Bradley, was born.
We returned to Africa not just as travellers, but as parents. And suddenly, everything changed. The pace, the priorities, and the questions we were asking all became different.
We realised that travelling with a child requires a far more considered approach. The details that are often overlooked became essential. A cot in the room. Thoughtful meal preparation. Trusted childcare. Flexibility in how each day unfolds.
And then there were the assumptions.
That you need to wait.
That young children do not belong on safari.
That the experience is only designed for a certain age.
We quickly learned that this is not entirely true. But navigating it requires knowledge, access, and careful planning.
At the same time, one thing remained non negotiable.
We did not want to compromise.
We still wanted the beauty, the design, and the level of hospitality that defines Africa at its best. We wanted to feel looked after without needing to ask. We wanted something seamless, considered, and deeply personal. For us as adults, and for Bradley.
As I began sharing more of our travels, the questions started to come in.
Can you take a baby on safari?
Where would you go?
Is it safe?
Do we need to wait?
What became clear is that many families were not unsure about whether they wanted to experience Africa. They simply did not know how.
House of Wild was created in response to that.
Not as a traditional travel agency, but as a more considered way to access Africa. One that is entirely shaped around your family.
A way of travelling where nothing feels overwhelming, everything feels intentional, and the experience unfolds exactly as it should.
Where you do not have to wait for the right age or the right time.
Just the right way to experience it.
What Makes This Different
House of Wild is not built on listings or availability.
It is built on lived experience.
Over the years, we have travelled extensively through Africa, first as a couple, and now as a family. Experiencing the same lodges through entirely different lenses is what shaped everything.
Because a safari designed for two is not the same as one designed for a family.
We work with a small number of families each year, allowing every journey to be deeply personal. There is no volume, no templated itineraries, and no attempt to make one experience fit all.
Every recommendation is intentional.
Our portfolio is deliberately focused across a handful of regions. South Africa, Namibia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and select parts of Botswana. Each chosen for their ability to offer exceptional safari experiences that work seamlessly for families.
Every lodge is carefully vetted. Not just for its level of luxury, but for how it supports you as a parent. From privacy and flexibility to the smaller details that shape how at ease you feel.
Because what matters most is not just where you go, but how supported you feel while you are there.
We take the time to understand each family properly.
Your experience of travel.
Your expectations.
Your concerns, especially the ones you are not always sure how to articulate.
From there, we shape something entirely around you.
There is also a level of understanding that sits behind every recommendation.
A background in guiding.
Years spent documenting Africa’s most exceptional lodges.
A personal standard of luxury that is never compromised.
Everything you see within House of Wild has been experienced, captured, and curated by us.
Nothing is borrowed. Nothing is assumed.
Just a collection of places and experiences we know, trust, and believe in.
This is how I want my children to experience the world.
About the Founders
House of Wild is founded by Jemma Wild, a safari photographer and creative whose work has been shaped by years spent immersed in Africa.
For over seven years, Jemma has been commissioned to photograph some of the continent’s most exceptional lodges. Through this, she has experienced Africa from a perspective few have access to. Not just as a guest, but from within the rhythm of each place.
Time spent with lodge owners, guides, and hospitality teams has given her a deep understanding of what defines an extraordinary safari. Not just visually, but in how it feels.
Her background extends beyond photography.
With formal guiding credentials through FGASA, and years of overland travel across Southern Africa, Jemma’s understanding of the continent is both practical and intuitive. She has experienced Africa at its most refined, and at its most raw.
Alongside this, her work in digital strategy and content has seen her collaborate with leading names in luxury hospitality. Advising on guest experience, brand positioning, and how lodges are experienced both behind the scenes and by those who visit them.
Her work has been featured internationally, including in the The New York Times.
Today, that experience is shaped by a new lens. Motherhood.
Travelling through Africa with her daughter has redefined what matters. The pace, the detail, and the level of care required are all seen through the perspective of a parent.
From navigating pregnancy in remote regions, to travelling with a young child across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Botswana, Jemma brings a deeply personal understanding of what it means to experience Africa as a family.
At the heart of her work is a strong commitment to conservation and ethical travel. Every recommendation is grounded in respect for the land, for wildlife, and for the people who make these experiences possible.
House of Wild is also shaped alongside her husband Guy, her partner in travel and in life.
Together, they have built a life centred around movement, curiosity, and a deep connection to Africa.
Every journey begins with a conversation.
Tell us a little about your family, and we will begin shaping something extraordinary.
